Hey Mama, I’m Katie.
I’m a pediatric ICU nurse, certified baby sleep guide, and new mama who’s passionate about helping families find more peace, rhythm, and rest in those early months of life with a little one.
After years spent caring for the tiniest patients in critical care, I’ve seen just how powerful sleep, connection, and a calm environment can be—not just for babies, but for the entire family. That’s what inspired me to create Baby Beyond Birth—a space where mamas feel seen, supported, and empowered to lead with love.
I live in Nashville, TN with my husband Steve, our two pups—Kodi the gentle Lab and Mazy the ball-obsessed Boxer—and our sweet girl Rory, who joined our crew in the spring of 2025. Becoming a mom myself has brought this work to life in the most personal way. I now truly understand the joys, the doubts, and the middle-of-the-night Googling that come with new motherhood.
Whether you're navigating nap struggles, searching for a rhythm that actually works, or just need someone to remind you you're doing an amazing job—I'm here for it. My approach is gentle, honest, and rooted in real-life experience.
You’ve got this, Mama. And I’m so glad you’re here.
What is a baby-led sleep and well-being specialist?
As a Baby-Led Sleep and Well-Being Specialist, my mission is to support you on your journey through motherhood and empower you to lead your little with love. I understand that not every baby, child, and family are the same and what works for one may not work for the next. That’s why I’m here to offer personalized support and encourage you to trust your instincts as a mother. I will never ask you to do something that just doesn't feel right to you. Instead, I will guide you in keeping what works for your family and changing what doesn’t. We will collaborate to make an individualized plan that feels good to you and keep the things you love.
I do not use cry it out or separation techniques of any sort. This is so important to me! I believe every child's needs should be met within the moments they need them. I am not in the business of making children hysterical. I will support you to make space for your child’s emotions so you can grow together. I value the relationship you have with your child above all else. The key to my approach is attachment and building a strong beautiful bond between you and your baby. Independent sleep is not a learned skill but rather a skill that develops naturally after years of knowing they can deeply depend on mom and dad for needs.
I will work with you to understand YOUR baby’s natural sleep and rhythm cues. I will help you create a sleep-friendly environment that helps facilitate restful sleep. I will help you implement gentle and responsive strategies to support your baby to sleep. I will encourage bonding and attachment during sleep routines. I will provide guidance and support for addressing sleep challenges and transitions, such as sleep regressions, nap transitions, and night weaning. I will never judge any choices you have made. When we know better, we will do better. I will always validate your concerns and hear your opinions. I will remind you to indulge in self care and things that make you feel good. Your needs are important too and putting yourself first (occasionally) will allow you to be there for your child during the highs but also the lows.
